Sometimes, things happen in life that are hard to understand. Last night, we lost all of our chickens. It’s okay to feel sad, angry, or confused. We think a fox got into the coop, Even though we did our best to care for them, we can’t always protect them from everything. Just like we lose people we love, sometimes we lose animals too. It’s important to remember the good times we had with our chickens and how much joy they brought us. We can remember collecting eggs, watching them scratch in the dirt, Ben Eggy escaping and our quiet cuddles. It’s okay to cry and to miss them. Let’s talk about our feelings and remember our chickens together.
Why God?
The Bible tells the story of Job, a good man who lost everything – his family, his wealth, even his health. His friends tried to comfort him, but they got it wrong. They said he must have done something bad to deserve this suffering. But Job knew he hadn’t. He questioned God, asking why this was happening. God didn’t give Job a specific answer. Instead, God reminded Job that He is God – powerful, mysterious, and in control. Sometimes, we don’t understand why bad things happen. Just like Job, we may never know the exact reason why we lost our chickens. But we can trust that God is with us in our sadness. He sees our tears and hears our questions. Even when we don’t understand, we can hold onto God’s love and know that He cares for us. Losing our chickens reminds us that life can be fragile, but it also reminds us to appreciate the good times and to trust in God’s plan, even when it’s hard.
Looking forward
Please pray for me as I make time to listen to the young people and try to answer their questions honestly and with compassion.
Help me as I deal with each young person as an individual. Everyone grieves differently. I need to let them express their sadness in their own way, whether it’s through tears, art, or simply quiet reflection.
I might consider planting a tree and possibly print pictures to remind them of our friends. What do you think?
While acknowledging the sadness, I need to remind them of the good memories and to ensure they have the love and support they need.
This is an opportunity to teach valuable lessons about life, loss, and faith. By being open and honest, I can help young people navigate these difficult emotions and hopefully find comfort in God’s presence.
