22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Now those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also behave in accordance with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, being jealous of one another.
Galatians 5 v 22-26
The Fruit of the Spirit is like a beautiful, invisible basket of goodies that grows inside of us when we live with love and try to be like Jesus. Imagine this basket is filled with nine super-special fruits that make us the best we can be!
Here they are:
Love
This is the big, shiny apple at the centre of the basket. Love means caring for others in a big, warm, bear-hug kind of way. It’s about being kind to everyone, even when they are different from us or when we are having a bad day.
Joy
Joy is the giggly bunch of grapes in our basket—always there to remind us to be happy. Even when times get tough or when you’re feeling a bit low, the fruit of Joy brings smiles and laughter to our hearts.
Peace
Peace is like a ripe peach that helps us stay calm and cool. When things around us are crazy and loud, peace keeps our insides feeling smooth and quiet, just like a peaceful lake on a still morning.
Patience
Patience is the orange in our basket that teaches us to wait without getting upset. It’s not always easy, but with patience, we can handle long lines, homework, and even annoying siblings without losing our cool.
Kindness
Kindness is the sweet strawberry that tastes better when shared. It’s helping others without expecting anything in return, sharing your toys, or saying nice things to make someone else feel good.
Goodness
The pineapple stands for goodness because it’s a bit like being a superhero! It means choosing to do the right thing, like telling the truth, even when it could be easier not to.
Faithfulness
Faithfulness is like a bunch of faithful blueberries. It’s about being a true friend, sticking by someone’s side, and keeping promises, no matter what.
Gentleness
Gentleness can be compared to a ripe banana; it’s not too hard or too soft. It’s about touching, speaking, and treating others softly and carefully, just as we like to be treated.
Self-control
Self-control is the watermelon that helps us hold back from saying or doing things we might regret later. It tells us when it’s time to stop playing video games, or when we should say “no thanks” to one more biscuit.
Having the Fruit of the Spirit means you’re growing to be more like Jesus every day. It’s like a secret garden inside you, where these fruits make your thoughts, words, and actions beautiful for everyone to see and enjoy!
