Thanks and Praise
“Let them praise the name of the Lord, for his name alone is exalted; his splendour is above the earth and the heavens” Psalm 148:13
“Rejoice always, pray continually.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17
“We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, the One who is and who was, because you have taken your great power and have begun to reign.” Revelation 11:17
For Our Leaders
Make known your ways, O Lord; teach our leaders your paths. Lead them in your truth and teach them, for you are the God of our salvation; I pray they wait for you all the day long. Psalm 25 v 4–5
Two things I ask of you; deny them not to me before I die: Remove far from our leaders falsehood and lying; give them neither poverty nor riches; feed them with the food that is needful for them, lest they be full and deny you and say, “Who is the Lord?” or lest they be poor and steal and profane the name of my God. Proverbs 30 v 7-9
Give your servants therefore an understanding mind to govern your people, that they may discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this your great people? 1 Kings 3 v 7-9
For the Church
I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that you sent me and loved them even as you loved me. Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory that you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world. John 17 v 20–24
For Healing
For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3 v 14–19
For Us
“And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light” Colossians 1:9-12
“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting” Psalm 139:23-24
“And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God” Philippians 1:9-11
From inside the fish Jonah prayed to the Lord his God. He said: “In my distress I called to the Lord, And he answered me. From deep in the realm of the dead I called for help, And you listened to my cry. Jonah 2:1-9
