A Prayer for the Continents

Africa

“May Ethiopia hasten to stretch out her hands to God.” Psalm 68:31

Lord, we pray for Africa, a continent rich in diversity and beauty, yet burdened by poverty, conflict, and disease. We pray for nations experiencing war and violence, that you would bring peace and stability. We pray for those who are persecuted for their faith, especially widows and orphans, that you would protect them and provide for their needs. We pray for increased access to healthcare and education across the continent, that all may have the opportunity to flourish.

Asia

“Behold, these shall come from afar; and, lo, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim.” Isaiah 49:12

Lord, we pray for Asia, the largest and most populous continent, home to diverse cultures and religions. We pray for those suffering from oppression and persecution, that they may find freedom and justice. We pray for wisdom and compassion for leaders, that they may govern with integrity and uphold human rights. We pray for the spread of the Gospel across Asia, that many would come to know the love and salvation of Jesus Christ.

Europe

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” Romans 15:13

Lord, we pray for Europe, a continent steeped in history and tradition. We pray for unity and cooperation amongst nations, that they may work together for the common good. We pray for revival and spiritual awakening across Europe, that the church would be a beacon of light and hope in a world that often feels lost and divided.

North America

“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.” Matthew 25:35-36

Lord, we pray for North America, a land of opportunity and abundance. We pray for those struggling with poverty and inequality, that they may find support and a path to a better life. We pray for healing and reconciliation in communities divided by racial and social tensions. We pray for a renewed commitment to justice and compassion, that all may experience the fullness of life you intend.

South America

“Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; let the sea roar, and all that fills it; let the field exult, and everything in it! Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy.” Psalm 96:11-12

Lord, we pray for South America, a continent of vibrant cultures and breathtaking landscapes. We pray for an end to corruption and violence, that justice and peace may prevail. We pray for the protection of the Amazon rainforest and other natural wonders, that they may be preserved for future generations. We pray for the church in South America, that it would be a source of strength and hope for those facing challenges.

Australia

“And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place.” Acts 17:26

Lord, we pray for Australia, a land of unique beauty and diverse wildlife. We pray for healing and reconciliation between Indigenous peoples and the wider community. We pray for wisdom and courage for leaders, that they may make decisions that protect the environment and promote social justice. We pray for the church in Australia, that it would be a welcoming and inclusive community for all.

Antarctica

“O Lord, how manifold are your works! In wisdom have you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.” Psalm 104:24

Lord, we pray for Antarctica, a continent of icy wilderness and scientific discovery. We pray for the protection of this fragile ecosystem and for those who work and research there. We pray that Antarctica would continue to be a place of international cooperation and peace.

A Special Prayer for Those in Need

Lord, we lift up all nations facing war and conflict. We pray for an end to violence and bloodshed, for comfort and healing for those who are suffering, and for a swift and just resolution to these conflicts.

We pray for widows and orphans who are being persecuted and oppressed. Protect them, Lord, and provide for their needs. Raise up advocates to defend their rights and bring justice to those who harm them.

We pray for improved access to healthcare and education around the world. Grant wisdom and resources to those working to improve these vital areas, that all people may have the opportunity to live healthy and fulfilling lives.
