So, there was this guy, right? Got totally mugged and left for dead on the side of the road. It was brutal. Two guys, supposed to be all religious and stuff, saw him but just walked right past. Like, didn’t even blink.
But then this Samaritan dude rolls up. Now, Samaritans and Jews? Not exactly besties. Total beef between them. But this Samaritan? He didn’t care.
He stopped, patched the guy up, took him to a hotel, paid for his room, and even told the hotel owner to put it on his tab if the guy needed anything else.
Here’s the kicker: Jesus was telling this story to a religious guy who was trying to be all smart. Jesus asked him, “Which of these three do you think was a neighbour to the guy who got mugged?”
The religious guy was like, “The one who helped him out, duh.”
And Jesus was like, “Exactly! Now go and do likewise.”
So, what’s the takeaway? Don’t be a jerk, even to people you don’t like. Help those in need, even if it’s not convenient. That’s what being a good neighbour is all about.
