In the Beginning
- God Creates Everything: God, who is all-powerful and loving, created the universe. He made the heavens, the earth, the stars, and everything in it. It was perfect and beautiful.
- Adam and Eve in the Garden: God made the first people, Adam and Eve, and placed them in a special garden called Eden. They lived happily there, but they were given one rule: not to eat fruit from a certain tree.
- The Fall: A sneaky creature, the serpent (who was actually Satan), tempted Eve to disobey God and eat the forbidden fruit. She shared it with Adam, and this disobedience brought sin and sadness into the world. God had to send them away from the perfect garden.
The Old Testament: God’s Promises and His People
- Noah’s Ark: People became very wicked, but Noah was a good man. God told him to build a huge boat (an ark) to save his family and two of every kind of animal from a great flood that would cover the earth.
- Abraham and Sarah: God promised Abraham and his wife Sarah that they would have many descendants and become a great nation. Their family would be special to God.
- Moses and the Exodus: Abraham’s descendants became slaves in Egypt. God chose Moses to lead them out of slavery and back to the promised land. God gave Moses the Ten Commandments, important rules for how to live.
- Kings and Prophets: God’s people had many leaders, some good kings like David, and some bad ones. Prophets were special people who spoke for God and reminded the people to turn back to Him.
The New Testament: Jesus, the Saviour
- Jesus is Born: God sent his son, Jesus, to earth. He was born in Bethlehem to Mary, a young woman. Jesus was both fully God and fully human.
- Jesus’ Ministry: When Jesus grew up, he taught people about God’s love and forgiveness. He performed miracles, healing the sick and even raising people from the dead. He gathered followers called disciples.
- Jesus Dies and Rises Again: Some people were jealous of Jesus and had him crucified (killed on a cross). But three days later, Jesus rose from the dead! This proved that he was God’s son and that he had power over death.
- The Good News Spreads: Jesus’ followers, filled with the Holy Spirit, went all over the world telling others about Jesus and the promise of eternal life with God for those who believe in him.
Revelation: The End of the Story
- God’s Ultimate Victory: The Bible tells us that one day, Jesus will return to earth. He will defeat evil and make everything new again.
- Heaven: Those who have trusted in Jesus will live with him forever in a perfect place called Heaven. There will be no more sadness, pain, or death.
The Main Idea: The Bible is the story of God’s love for people and his plan to rescue them from sin. Jesus is the central figure of this story, the one who brings us forgiveness and eternal life.
