Every Story needs a Start

First this: God created the Heavens and Earth—all you see, all you don’t see. Earth was a soup of nothingness, a bottomless emptiness, an inky blackness. God’s Spirit brooded like a bird above the watery abyss.

Every story needs a start and this is where our story starts – with God. We can’t start this story with one day, because there were no days, God invented them. So a long long long time ago, no we can’t say that because there was no time until God created it. So God’s story starts and ends with God. It was His generosity that decided to create us, the animals and the earth. He created time. So He can never be late in answering our prayers (or early), God will never be rushed or slowed. God’s timing will always be perfect because it is His timing. So today thank God for creating you and being Lord over the hours, minutes and seconds of today.

As I wake from sleep, rouse me,
As I wash, cleanse me,
As I dress, gird me with your power,
As I eat, energise me,
As I journey, protect me,
As I relax, calm me,
As I sleep, surround me.
