Walking on Water: Faith in the Storm 6 v 45-52

45 Immediately Jesus made his disciples get into the boat and go on ahead to the other side, to Bethsaida, while he dispersed the crowd. 46 After saying good-bye to them, he went to the mountain to pray. 47 When evening came, the boat was in the middle of the sea and he was alone on the land.

The disciples are on a boat, waves are crashing, and the wind is against them. It’s a full-blown storm. Storms happen. Life throws issues, and sometimes it feels like you’re battling against the wind and waves.

48 He saw them straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. As the night was ending, he came to them walking on the sea, for he wanted to pass by them. 49 When they saw him walking on the water they thought he was a ghost. They cried out, 50 for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them: “Have courage! It is I. Do not be afraid.”

Then, out of the stormy chaos, they see a figure walking on water. But it’s not a ghost; it’s Jesus. In the storms of life, Jesus might show up in unexpected ways. Keep your eyes open, even in the chaos.

51 Then he went up with them into the boat, and the wind ceased. They were completely astonished, 52 because they did not understand about the loaves, but their hearts were hardened.

The presence of Jesus brings calm even in the midst of chaos. He brings peace.

Life throws storms your way. It’s not a matter of if but when. Be prepared for the unexpected. However, in the chaos of life, Jesus might show up in unexpected ways. Keep your eyes open for His presence, even when it seems unlikely.

Faith and fear can coexist, but it’s a battle. Keep your focus on Jesus, the source of true peace. When fear takes over, it feels like you’re sinking. But here’s the truth—Jesus is right there to lift you up. Don’t let fear drown your faith. Jesus understands moments of little faith, but He challenges us to rise above doubt and trust Him in the storm. Your faith can overcome the waves.

The presence of Jesus brings calm even in the midst of chaos. His peace is the key. Trust that after the storm, there’s calm.
