Verse 33: “With many similar parables Jesus spoke the word to them, as much as they could understand.”
Jesus, continues to tell stories and he’s not holding back; He’s using many parables, weaving stories like a literary wizard. He’s making sure it’s on everyone’s wavelength. Jesus is customising his stories for maximum impact.
Verse 34: “He did not say anything to them without using a parable. But when he was alone with his own disciples, he explained everything.”
Jesus didn’t just throw out parables for fun; every story had a purpose. When the crowds dissipated, and it was just Jesus and His disciples, that’s when he explained everything. Jesus wanted to go beyond the surface with his disciples.
Jesus knew His audience. He didn’t go over their heads; he met them where they were. It’s a lesson in customised communication. For Jesus, every parable had a purpose. It wasn’t random; each story carried a powerful message designed to resonate with hearts. For the disciples, Jesus pulled back the curtain and explained everything. He knew they were ready to go deep.
