This verse is a powerful statement from Jesus, filled with hope and anticipation:
“Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see that the kingdom of God has come with power.”
What Does This Mean?
Jesus is promising his disciples that some of them will witness a significant event before they die: the arrival of God’s kingdom in a new and powerful way. This isn’t just a distant hope for the future; it’s a reality that’s about to break into their lives.
Why is this Important?
This promise is a reminder that God’s kingdom isn’t just a far-off dream or an abstract concept. It’s a dynamic reality that can transform lives and bring about real change in the world. Jesus is saying that his disciples will soon see this kingdom manifested in a tangible and powerful way.
What Does This Mean for Us?
Even though we weren’t physically present with Jesus’ disciples, this promise still holds meaning for us today. It reminds us that God’s kingdom is still at work in the world, and we can experience its power in our own lives. We can see glimpses of the kingdom through acts of love, justice, compassion, and forgiveness. We can also see it at work in our own hearts as we grow in faith and become more like Jesus.
