This passage gives us a glimpse into Jesus’ mindset as He journeyed towards Jerusalem, knowing full well the suffering and death that awaited Him.
What Happened?
As Jesus and His disciples were on the road, He openly shared with them what was about to happen. He predicted His betrayal, His condemnation by the religious leaders, His brutal treatment, and His death. Yet, He also foretold His resurrection on the third day.
Why is this Important?
This passage reveals several important truths:
- Jesus’ Knowledge and Acceptance: Jesus wasn’t walking blindly into His fate. He knew exactly what awaited Him, and He accepted it willingly. This demonstrates His incredible courage and commitment to God’s plan.
- The Cost of Our Salvation: Jesus’ suffering and death weren’t random events. They were the price He paid to redeem us from our sins. This passage underscores the immense love and sacrifice of Jesus on our behalf.
- The Hope of Resurrection: Even in the face of death, Jesus offered hope. His prediction of His resurrection points to the ultimate victory over sin and death, and the promise of eternal life for those who believe in Him.

Challenge
Take some time this week to reflect on the cost of your salvation. Thank Jesus for His willingness to endure suffering and death for your sake. Ask Him to help you live a life that honours His sacrifice and shares the hope of His resurrection with others.
