Psalm 34:8 – Why don’t you experience God’s goodness and see how amazing it is!”
“Taste and see that the LORD is good!”
Imagine your favourite food ever. Maybe it’s pizza, or those super sour gummy sweets, or a perfectly ripe mango. You know how good it is because you’ve tasted it, right? This verse is saying that knowing God is kind of like that. You can hear about Him, but to really understand how good He is, you need to experience it first hand.
How do you “taste” God’s goodness? Well, you can:
- Spend time praying: Talk to God, tell Him what’s going on in your life, and listen for His guidance.
- Read the Bible: Discover stories of how God has helped people in the past and learn about His character.
- Hang out with other Christians: Connect with people who love God and see how their faith makes a difference in their lives.
- Help others: Do something kind for someone else, and experience the joy of showing God’s love.
“How blessed is the one who takes shelter in him!”
Imagine a huge storm is raging outside. Rain’s lashing down, thunder’s booming, and the wind is howling. You’d want to find a safe, strong shelter, right? This verse says that God is like that shelter. He protects us and gives us peace, even when life gets tough. When we trust in Him, we’re blessed – which basically means we’re super fortunate and have a deep sense of wellbeing.
Think about it
- What are some ways you’ve “tasted” God’s goodness in your own life?
- When have you felt like God was your shelter in a storm?
- How can you take shelter in God more often?
The coolest thing is, this invitation is open to everyone! No matter what you’ve done or where you’ve been, God is good and wants to bless you. So, take a step, try it out, and see for yourself!
