This is God’s Word on the subject: “As soon as Babylon’s seventy years are up and not a day before, I’ll show up and take care of you as I promised and bring you back home. I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.
Jeremiah 29 v 10-11
In the NIV the verse is translated plans and prosper! In the Message version we read plans and a future to hope for. A remarkable difference in the translation and an important one.
These verses are written at a time when the people of Israel are in captivity and subject to whatever whims the ruler can think of. What these people need to hear is about God’s plans and what he intends to do about their future. They are not interested in riches, they are interested in freedom. God is telling them that right now I have plans and they are to give you a future.
If we take note of these verses, the future hope is a far better promise than prosper. What do I want to know? I want to know that God has plans and that they include me in his plans and he will be looking after my future. Thank God today that if you saying I love you God, then he has hold of your future.
If you don’t know God, then now is your chance to follow him. You just need to pray, quite simply, “I want to know you God”.
