Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations….
Deuteronomy 7:9
Faith seems to be a little used word today but as a youth worker the one place I see it consistently is in gangs of young people. They hold each other accountable within the gang to each other. There is a level of friendship that is not so often seen today. With my kids I constantly ask them to be faithful to each other, to hold true and serve each other. I wish I could say this faithfulness is evident all around, but I don’t see it. It is sad.
So, I challenge you guys to rediscover the meaning of being faithful to each other and show a steadfast love.
I arise today
Through a mighty strength:
God’s power to guide me,
God’s might to uphold me,
God’s eyes to watch over me;
God’s ear to hear me,
God’s word to give me speech,
God’s hand to guard me,
God’s way to lie before me,
God’s shield to shelter me,
God’s host to secure me.
