Proverbs 19:17 says, “The one who is gracious to the poor lends to the LORD, and the LORD will repay him for his good deed.”
Now that might sound a bit confusing at first, but it’s actually a really cool concept! Let’s break it down:
- “Gracious to the poor” – This means showing kindness and compassion to people who are struggling or don’t have much. It could be helping out a classmate who’s having a tough time, donating to a charity, or volunteering your time to help those in need.
- “Lends to the LORD” – When we help others, it’s like we’re lending something valuable to God Himself! He sees our acts of kindness and considers them a personal loan to Him.
- “The LORD will repay him” – And guess what? God is the most generous lender ever! He promises to repay us for our good deeds, not just with material things, but with blessings, favour, and a sense of purpose.
Think about it
- How can you show kindness to someone who’s less fortunate than you today?
- Have you ever experienced God’s blessings after being generous to others?
- What are some ways you can “invest” in God’s bank by helping others?
Remember
Being generous isn’t just about giving money. It’s about using your time, talents, and resources to make a positive difference in the world. And when you do that, you’re not just helping others; you’re also investing in your own spiritual growth and relationship with God.
So go out there and be a blessing to someone today! You might be surprised at the amazing ways God will repay you.
