Okay, so picture this: a perfect world, no homework, no stress, just chilling with God in a beautiful garden. Sounds pretty sweet, right? That’s how it all began for Adam and Eve, the first humans. But things took a bit of a nosedive when they made a bad choice, and, well, let’s just say it kinda messed things up for everyone.
Let’s dive into the story
- Creation: God created the world and everything in it, including Adam and Eve. He placed them in the Garden of Eden, a paradise where they had everything they needed. (Genesis 1-2)
- The Forbidden Fruit: God gave Adam and Eve one rule: don’t eat the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. But a sneaky serpent tempted Eve, and she ate the fruit. Adam followed suit. (Genesis 3:1-7)
- The Consequences: Disobeying God had serious consequences. Sin entered the world, bringing pain, suffering, and death. Adam and Eve were kicked out of the garden, and their relationship with God was broken. (Genesis 3:8-24)
Why does this story matter?
- It explains why the world is the way it is: We see suffering, injustice, and brokenness all around us. The story of Adam and Eve shows us that these things are a result of sin, our turning away from God.
- It shows us our need for a Saviour: We can’t fix the mess on our own. We need someone to rescue us from the consequences of sin and restore our relationship with God. That’s where Jesus comes in!
- It teaches us about choices: Adam and Eve had a choice to obey or disobey God. We face choices every day. This story reminds us that our choices have consequences, both for ourselves and others.

Dear God, thank you for creating us and for loving us even when we mess up. We’re sorry for the times we disobey you, just like Adam and Eve. Thank you for sending Jesus to be our Saviour and to make things right. Help us to make good choices and to follow you always. Amen.
Blessing
May you remember that even though sin has messed things up, God loves you and has a plan to make all things new. Trust in Him and choose to follow His ways.
