Hey there! Have you ever heard of the book of John? It’s one of the four Gospels in the Bible, which means it tells the story of Jesus’ life. But John’s Gospel is a little different – it’s like a unique perspective on Jesus, almost like a close-up lens.
What’s so special about John’s Gospel?
- Focus on Jesus as the Son of God: John really emphasises Jesus’ identity as the Son of God. He uses phrases like “the Word,” “the Light,” and “the Bread of Life” to describe Jesus, showing us how amazing and important He is.
- Miracles and signs: John doesn’t just tell stories about Jesus’ miracles – he calls them “signs.” Each sign points to something deeper about who Jesus is and what He came to do.
- Jesus’ deep conversations: John records some really interesting conversations that Jesus had with people. These conversations help us understand Jesus’ teachings and the meaning behind His actions.
- Jesus’ love and compassion: John shows us Jesus’ heart. We see Him loving and caring for people, even those who others rejected.
Some cool questions to think about

Remember
The book of John isn’t just an old story. It’s a message of hope and love that’s still relevant today. As you read John, try to see Jesus through John’s eyes. You might be surprised at how amazing Jesus is!
John’s Gospel (the “good news”) is rather different from the other three, highlighting events not detailed in the others. The author himself states his main purpose clearly in 20:31: “that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”
