Imagine you’re in a time long ago, before smartphones and even books like we have today. People still wanted to know what the future held and how to live their lives in a way that would make God happy.
The Major Prophets were like messengers from God who spoke to the people and gave them guidance. They wrote down their messages in books, and these books were collected together in the Bible as the “Major Prophets.” These prophets didn’t predict the future like a fortune teller, but they did warn people when they were going astray and reminded them of God’s love and promise for a better future.
The Major Prophets are
- Isaiah: He spoke about hope and a coming saviour who would bring peace and justice to the world.
- Jeremiah: He warned people about the consequences of turning away from God, but also offered hope for forgiveness and a new beginning.
- Lamentations: This book is a collection of sad poems about the destruction of Jerusalem, but it also reminds people that even in the darkest times, God is still there.
- Ezekiel: He had amazing visions and used symbols and stories to help people understand God’s message.
- Daniel: He lived in a foreign land and faced many challenges, but he remained faithful to God and received visions about the future of God’s people.
These books are important because they teach us about God’s love, justice, and mercy. They also show us how important it is to listen to God’s message and follow his guidance, even when it’s difficult.
So, the Major Prophets are like a collection of letters from God to his people, guiding them through tough times and reminding them of his love and promises. They are full of stories, poems, and visions that can help us learn more about God and how to live a life that honours him.
