- To grow church young
- To meet the needs of young people in Lostwithiel and Fowey and Lerryn: Spiritual, Physical, Mental
- To train and equip young people to lead youth group and become church leaders
Young people no longer attend church and have lost a sense of the spiritual. Cornwall has a need for Jesus as it battles:
- Poverty
- High unemployment
- High house prices and cost of living
- Teenage pregnancies
- High teenage mental health issues
- Substance misuse
- Rural isolation
- Lack of transport
Our overriding answer to all of the problems above is Jesus. It is only in meeting Jesus that many of the issues facing Cornwall and especially teenagers will be healed. In outworking this means:
- Empowerment – enabling young people to make decisions for their own lives and equipping them with the skills
- Responsibility – helping young people understand their responsibilities in today’s world and how they fit into this large picture
- Co-operating – training young people to learn to co-operate with the world around them
In order for young people to flourish in church, it needs to grow young. This means encouraging young people into leadership roles, developing services that they can run and that will impact their lives and to take Jesus’ message seriously.
